Heliport and Marina Operations & Management
Ecological, Smart ve Sustainable Cities
Heliport Management and Marina Management are both business areas that require specialized infrastructure, serve specific transportation vehicles, and focus on high levels of safety and service quality.
I. Heliport Management
A heliport is a defined area or an aerodrome intended to be used wholly or in part for the arrival, departure, and surface movement of helicopters. They are generally located on the roofs of buildings (elevated heliports), at ground level, or on ships (helidecks/shipboard heliports).
Basic Purpose and Scope
Heliport management is responsible for ensuring that helicopter operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the relevant Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) regulations.
Main Elements of Management
1.Infrastructure and Facility Management:
Runway and Area Management: Ensuring compliance with standards for critical areas such as the Touchdown and Lift-Off area (TLOF) and the Final Approach and Take-Off area (FATO).
Obstacle Control: Ensuring that structures, trees, and other obstacles around the heliport are at heights and distances that do not endanger helicopter operations.
Visual Aids: Keeping runway markings, wind cones, lighting (for night operations), and approach lights constantly operational.
2.Safety and Security:
Ground Safety: Control of Foreign Object Damage (FOD), safety of parking positions, and ensuring ground personnel comply with safety rules.
Firefighting (ARFF): Managing fire risks, keeping necessary firefighting equipment (water, foam, etc.) ready, and training emergency teams. There are additional load and safety requirements, especially for elevated heliports.
Emergency Plan: Creating and implementing a fast and effective intervention plan against accidents and crashes.
3.Operational Services:
Communication: Providing uninterrupted and accurate communication between the helicopter and ground personnel.
Refueling: Offering safe and standards-compliant refueling services (if required).
Ground Handling: Coordinating services such as helicopter parking, baggage/cargo transfer, and personnel transfer.
II. Marina Management
Marinas are yacht harbors in the sea and yacht tourism sector where yachts and other marine vessels can safely moor, shelter, and receive technical, social, and commercial services.
Basic Purpose and Scope
Marina management is responsible for providing integrated services to boat owners that meet accommodation, maintenance, repair, and social needs in accordance with sea tourism legislation.
Main Elements of Management
1.Sea and Land Operations:
Mooring and Sheltering: Ensuring yachts are moored to safe piers and quays (Sea Operations). Providing electricity, water, and waste collection services.
Dry Stack Area (Land Park): Management of the area where boats and yachts are taken from sea to land and stored for wintering, maintenance, and repair (Land Operations).
Yacht Hauling and Launching: Performing the processes of taking boats ashore and launching them into the sea with special equipment such as traveling lifts and cranes.
2.Technical Service and Maintenance:
Repair and Overhaul: Providing space and facilities for boat owners or authorized services for engine, hull, electrical, and paint works.
Refueling: Operating safe refueling stations at sea or on land.
3.Customer Relations and Social Services:
Accommodation and Social Facilities: Operating social facilities such as showers, toilets, laundry, restaurants, cafes, and markets for boat owners and guests.
Customer Services: Providing services such as mooring contracts, insurance tracking, and weather/sea state information.
Security: Ensuring 24/7 security of the marina area from both sea and land, and controlling entrances and exits.
4.Legal and Environmental Management:
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring full compliance with national and international maritime rules, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards.
Environmental Management: Ensuring the collection and disposal of waste oil, bilge water, solid, and liquid wastes without harming the environment. Promoting sustainability practices.
